Alexandru Gheorghiu: best student paper
Congratulations to postgraduate research student Alexandru Gheorghiu on winning Best Student Paper at QCrypt 2015, the international conference on quantum cryptography.

Andru was the main author on the paper, ‘Robustness and device independence of verifiable blind quantum computing,’ which he produced with support from Research Associate Dr Petros Wallden and Reader, Dr Elham Kashefi.
All three are members of the Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science (LFCS).
Dr Kashefi says: “Even getting accepted at the conference among 100 submissions was already a huge achievement but Andru also succeeded in defending the work in a private presentation to an expert panel.”
About QCrypt
QCrypt is the annual conference for researchers working on all aspects of quantum cryptography, a secure coding technique based on quantum mechanics.
QCrypt 2015 was held in Tokyo, Japan, 28 September – 2 October 2015.
Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science
(LFCS) is one of seven research institutes in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. It was founded in 1987 and is a community of theoretical computer scientists with interests in concurrency, semantics, categories, algebra, types, logic, algorithms, complexity, databases and modelling.
