About the building

The Forum represents phase 1 of the Potter Row Development. This project is one of the major components of the University's masterplan framework for George Square / Bristo Square. The framework, prepared by RMJM Associates, was endorsed by the City of Edinburgh Council Planning Committee in June 2004. The building was officially opened by the then First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond.

The new building totals approximately 25,000 square meters. Its three principal users are:

  • The School of Informatics
  • The College of Humanities and Social Science
  • The University Student Support Services
