Postdoctoral researcher wins communication prize

June 2018: Dr Douglas Gibson was awarded a presentation prize at a recent meeting.

Postdoctoral Researcher Dr Douglas Gibson won the 'Best Early Career Researcher' oral communication prize at the 'Pharmacology Futures – Exploring the Future of Drug Development' meeting held on 17 May 2018.

The talk was titled: "Investigating SARMs as Novel Therapeutics in Women", and was presented at the 'Future of Pharmacology' competition, in which Dr Gibson had 7 minutes to present his work and his perspective on the future of drug development.

Upon announcement as the winner, he was awarded a certificate and £250 prize

The meeting was run jointly by the British Pharmacological Society and the Royal Society of Edinburgh and held at the National Museum of Scotland. The meeting explored the technologies that will  drive drug development over the next 10 to 15 years.

During the meeting, the University of Edinburgh’s Cameron Prize for Therapeutics was awarded to Professor Dame Sally Davies, who spoke on anti-microbial resistance.
