Demonstrating your right to work in the UK

Prior to any employment commencing with the University you will be asked to provide documents to demonstrate your right to work in the UK. These pages give information about the documents you need to show to the University to confirm you have the right to work. Without valid documents, the University is not be able to employ you.

Please note that with effect from 1 October 2019 right to work checks are not required when current employees are transferring or taking additional roles within the University.

You already have the right to work in the UK

Information for UK/EEA/Swiss citizens who have an ongoing right to work in the UK and those who hold indefinite leave to remain in the UK. Please note this information applies to all EEA/Swiss citizens, already living in the UK or moving to the UK from their home country and regardless of the nature of the UK’s exit from the EU.

You have a time-limited right to work in the UK

Information for non-EEA citizens who have a time-limited right to work in the UK, i.e. their visa has an expiry date.

You do not currently have the right to work in the UK

Information for non-EEA citizens who do not have the right to work in the UK and would need to apply for and obtain a visa to do so.
