Clinical Academic Consultants - Job Planning

Information for Clinical Academic Consultants on Job Planning.

Job Planning

All Clinical Academic Consultants are required to have an agreed job plan and to participate in annual joint job planning with input from both the University and the NHS.

Participation in job planning is a requirement for pay progression.  As you may be aware, NHS Lothian utilise the electronic job planning system HealthMedics, part of the Allocate Software HealthSuite (formerly known as ‘Zircadian’).  At present the system has not been formally implemented for Clinical Academic staff and therefore you may choose whether or not to record your job plan electronically.

If you do choose to record your job plan electronically you should still complete a  paper job plan (the agreed format is given below) as this allows for the required sign-off by you, your academic line manager and clinical line manager.  You should also ensure that the below ‘Statement on the use of the Electronic Job Planning System’ is inserted into your appraisal documents.
