Funding opportunities
Find out about funding opportunities within the School and the University.
There are a number of funding opportunities available to help support you with your studies, most of which are covered on the University's Scholarships and Student Funding site, linked to below. These opportunities tend to depend on what subject you are planning on studying and where you are from. Some scholarships are awarded on the basis of your academic performance. While completing your degree, funding opportunities can become available depending upon the year of your study.
Some specific funding opportunities, such as the Robertson International Scholarship, are made available directly through the School of History, Classics & Archaeology. You can learn more about these below.
Robertson International Scholarship
Robertson scholarships amount to £1,000 and are available to new overseas students commencing their studies at the School of History, Classics and Archaeology.
Applications for 2023/2024 will open in January 2023.
Details on the notification date will be posted once the scholarship is open.

2023/2024 Applications
Applications for 2023/2024 will open in January 2023.

Eligibility
- You must be a national of a country outside of the UK and be liable to pay the overseas rate of tuition fee.
- Applicants should have applied through the University and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) to commence an undergraduate programme of study within the School of History, Classics and Archaeology for the upcoming academic year, 2023-2024.
- The scholarship is not available to students already on programme.

- Applications must be submitted via the online application form on the Scholarships & Student Funding website.

Each scholarship is worth £1,000. This sum is deducted from tuition fees.

Archaeology Vacation Grant
For Archaeology students within the School, an Archaeology Vacation Grant can be particularly beneficial; this funding is awarded to students carrying out fieldwork at the end of their first year, or as part of the Archaeological Fieldwork option course in year four.
