Ethics procedures for undergraduate dissertations and projects

The responsibility for the oversight of ethics and research integrity for undergraduate dissertations and projects lies with supervisors. The Level 1 Ethics form for undergraduate students ("HCA Undergraduate Ethics Form - Level 1") should be completed by students and submitted with the dissertation proposal. Full information about how to proceed will be supplied to undergraduate students by the Undergraduate Office through the Dissertation Handbook and any other relevant course handbooks. Students should consult these in the first instance.

Supervisors will scrutinize and approve all Research Ethics forms; if they have any concerns about the proposed project they may require the student to redesign it. Supervisors may also consult with Subject Area Ethics reps for advice. Undergraduate forms should be logged and kept by the Undergraduate office.
