Chinese delegation meets with Second World War historians

Three History lecturers from the School of History, Classics & Archaeology were recently invited to lecture on Britain and the Second World to a visiting Chinese delegation. (Published 21 Sept 2016)

Three History lecturers from the School of History, Classics & Archaeology were recently invited to lecture on Britain and the Second World to a visiting Chinese delegation.
 
The delegation, led by Mr Jiang Jiannong, was organised by the Party History Research Centre of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and included Directors and Deputy Director Generals conducting research in modern history. The purpose of the visit was to find out more about the history of Britain during the Second World War. 
 
Dr Jeremy Crang, Dr Wendy Ugolini and Dr Trevor Griffiths participated in the all-day event, delivering lectures on Britain's military campaigns and wartime mobilisation, the social and cultural history of the British home front, representations of the war in British cinema, and the memorialisation and commemoration of the war.
 
The event took place at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh on 6 September.
