Professor Sir Tom Devine and Dr Gordon Brown MP met to discuss Scotland’s past and Scotland’s present in a celebratory event marking the retirement of Professor Devine.

As a farewell to mark the retirement of Professor Sir Tom Devine, the University hosted an evening of debate surrounding Scotland’s past and Scotland’s present last month.

The discussion was followed by a question and answer session and book signings with Dr Gordon Brown MP, former Prime of the UK and double alumnus in History at Edinburgh, and Professor Devine OBE Hon MRIA FRSE FBA, Personal Senior Research Professor in History.

This event, which marked 45 years of academic service by Professor Devine at three Scottish universities and his imminent farewell to the University of Edinburgh at the end of July, comes at a historic time for the Scottish nation.

Highlights from the evening are now available to watch online.
