Professor Frank Cogliano has featured on National Public Radio in the United States discussing Islam in America. (Published 4 November 2014)

Backstory is a public radio programme and podcast that brings historical perspective to events happening today.

The programme considers the history of America’s relationship with Islam, what it means to be a Muslim in America and how the idea of Islam in the United States has changed over time.

Professor Cogliano joins the hosts discussing the Barbary Wars, America’s first conflict in the Islamic world and President Jefferson’s attitude towards Islam. He discussed his recent book, Emperor of Liberty: Thomas Jefferson’s Foreign Policy (Yale, 2014).
