New Generation Thinker: An Update

Having been announced back in May 2013 as one of BBC Radio 3’s ten ‘New Generation Thinkers’, Dr Chris Harding has made regular contributions to the network.

The competition aimed to find the academic broadcasters of the future and help them think about the public dissemination of their work. Dr Chris Harding researches on the modern West's cultural dialogue with Japan and India, looking in particular at how religion, psychology, and psychiatry have become increasingly intertwined, changing the way we think about spiritual versus mental and emotional health.

Over the past 8 months Dr Harding has shared his research in a series of radio broadcasts. The first went out on BBC Radio 3's 'Night Waves' programme on 17 June. Since then he has talked about counselling and religion, debated psychotherapy, and most recently on 16 December described the place of Christmas in Japanese culture.

The broadcasts are available from the BBC (links below).
