Professor Barnes elected Fellow of British Academy

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is delighted that our Professor Timothy D. Barnes, Honorary Professorial Fellow in Divinity and HCA, has been elected a Fellow of the British Academy.

The Academy is the UK's national body for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

An Emeritus Professor of Classics at the University of Toronto, Timothy Barnes is a prolific and iconoclastic historian of the Roman Empire, on which he has published eleven books and over 150 journal articles and book chapters.

Since his arrival in Edinburgh in 2008, he has published 'Early Christian Hagiography and Roman History' and 'Constantine: Dynasty, Religion and Power in the Later Roman Empire' .
