MSc in History (Online Learning) graduate publishes work

The School was delighted to hear that David Bonner, a graduate of the MSc in History (Online Learning), has recently had a book chapter published.

HCA David Bonner

‘The Last 100 Yards’ published by the US Army War College features David’s stand-alone monograph ‘The Vosges Mountains Campaign, 1944: The Rescue of the “Lost Battalion” by the 442nd Regimental Combat Team’. The unit became the most decorated unit of its size in US history and was almost entirely made up of second-generation American soldiers of Japanese ancestry. This chapter reviews how the 442nd Regimental Combat Team’s combat effectiveness proved a decisive factor in its success, and is derived from David's MSc dissertation .

“I owe a great deal to the entire MSc program faculty for helping me develop this theme over the course of my studies,” said David, “And the research skills I gained were absolutely invaluable.”

David is a Captain in the USAF Reserve, and will be a PhD candidate with the School of History, Classics and Archaeology from September 2019.
