Manuel Fernández-Götz appointed as Trustee of National Museums Scotland

The School was delighted to learn that Manuel Fernández-Götz, Abercromby Professor of Archaeology, has been appointed as new Trustee of National Museums Scotland (NMS).

The appointment to the NMS Board of Trustees will be for a period of four years, starting in October 2023. National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museums groups in Europe, with a multi-disciplinary collection of over 12 million objects. It encompasses the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street in Edinburgh, the National War Museum in Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Flight in East Lothian, and the National Museum of Rural Life near East Kilbride. The museums are enjoyed by millions of local and international visitors each year.

Professor Fernández-Götz said: “I am very pleased to be joining the NMS Board of Trustees. I have always been passionate about museums and the role they play in society, and I look forward to contributing to the mission of NMS. This is an exciting time to join the board as the organisation is developing its new Strategic Plan for 2022-27"
