Drawing on the past: traditional building materials in modern construction

Event description

The talk is aimed at staff and students, undergraduates as well as postgraduates in Archaeology, Architecture and Engineering, Architectural History, History and Classical Archaeology, who are interested in ancient and/or traditional architectures and modern applications of ancient technologies and building knowledge.  

Professor Walker, will particularly focus on the use of traditional methods and materials for sustainable modern building.

The lecture is part of the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship project Building (Ancient) Lives by Dr Tanja Romankiewicz and is organised jointly with Dr Kate Carter in Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

Professor Peter Walker is Head of the Department of Architecture and Engineering at the University of Bath and Director of the BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials.
