Burn Retreat 2018 (21-22 April)

The Burn is a beautiful late-eighteenth-century country house near Edzell, Angus.

The retreat will consist of a series of informal workshops aimed at providing practical solutions to PG research challenges, and with a view to life beyond the PhD Viva. With plenty of free time available, the retreat will above all be a chance to relax in pleasant surroundings and in the company of like-minded academics. Sarah's 'Pubs & Pubs' post captures something of the value and fun of the experience. The weekend retreat is open to all PhD and MScR students in the School, include those that have already participated in previous years. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

As in previous years, this trip is being generously subsidised by the School, leaving a cost to students of only £39 per person, covering accommodation (shared twin room), meals and return transport from Edinburgh. The retreat fee will be non-refundable and payable in advance via the Epay system.

To register, email Dr Manuel Fernández-Götz (M.Fernandez-Gotz@ed.ac.uk) requesting a place and detailing any special dietary or other needs by 31 January 2018, and pay a £20 deposit (please call it ‘Remittance - Deposit for The Burn 2018') at the Regsiter link.

The balance should be paid by 15th March at the same link calling the payment ‘Balance - Deposit for The Burn 2018'.

Please also include details of any special dietary or other needs.
