A.G. Leventis - Inaugural lecture

The inaugural lecture of Professor François Lissarrague as Leventis Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh will be, 'On the Edinburgh painter: Style, stories and space' on 27 September 2017.

"The study of Attic Vase Painting has moved on after Beazley and his groundbreaking work. In this lecture, Professor François Lissarrague will use the so called Edinburgh painter as a starting point to reflect about three major aspects. First the importance of style and workshop traditions; second the construction of space, and the relation between the shape of the vase and the structure of the image on it; third on the narrative strategies developed by vase painters”.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.  The event is free but ticketed.   To give us an indication of numbers for the reception, please register at the Evenbrite link.
