Call for Papers: IberoArchUK 2020

Following Durham and Cambridge’s footsteps, this year Edinburgh will host the third edition of the IberoArchUK workshop. In the post-Brexit horizon, it is important to strengthen the links between British-based and Iberian researchers in archaeology to secure the future vitality of an already long and fruitful joint trajectory. This workshop, focused on archaeological research projects and collaborations between the UK and the Iberian Peninsula, will bring together researchers working in the UK and abroad with interests in Iberia and the Islands.

The aims of this event are:

  • To provide opportunities to create and consolidate collaborations between different research teams and scholars within the UK and Iberia.
  • To promote new joint projects and collaborations.
  • To make archaeologists based in the UK and the Iberian Peninsula aware of potential funding opportunities.
  • To share experiences and knowledge about working on the Iberian Peninsula.
  • To strengthen the relationships between the Spanish, Portuguese and UK archaeological traditions.

This one-day workshop will include short presentations by all the participants aimed at encouraging new collaborations, building synergies and bringing together researchers with complementary backgrounds and skills. It will especially target PG students and give them an opportunity to present themselves and their work, and establish valuable connections for their future research.

All archaeologists based in the UK working on the Iberian Peninsula to apply, especially early career researchers, women and minorities.
