Film Screening and Discussion Group: 'Mad to be Normal'

After previous explorations of Polish and Czech cinema, the Centre for the Study of Modern and Contemporary History will, this year, focus on culture, class and mental health in Britain. The second of two screenings wll be of  'Mad to be Normal' (2017), in which David Tennant plays the controversial Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing, whose attempts to revolutionise psychiatry made him an icon of 1960s counterculture. The film will be introduced by Jess Campbell, a PhD student in history researching alternative psychiatric therapies in the UK.

Both screenings are free and open to all. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
