HCA Cultural heritage and community engagement

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is delighted to announce that a new interdisciplinary research group on ‘Cultural Heritage and Community Engagement’ is being set up, with its home in the School but collaborating with colleagues in Art, Design and Architecture, Ethnography and Anthropology.  The Group also wants to reach to the wider community and community-based groups as well as to colleagues at other institutions.

A day workshop, to be held on Monday 18 June in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, is the first step in establishing the group and forming realistic and focused goals.

The day will begin with a series of short presentations on subjects central to the group with intensive breakout discussions in the afternoon.

Subjects will include ‘Future heritage: Creating new heritages now; Use, reuse and sustainable management’; ‘Intangible heritage: Spoken, performed, hidden, metamorphosing heritages’; ‘Inclusive heritage: Common, diverse, contested, emerging heritages, changing identities and values’, and ‘Heritage frontiers: Crossing borders into other disciplines, entangled heritages with art and natural sciences’.

If you are interested in being involved please contact the organisers below.
