HCA staff consultants on new BBC History series

Dr Paul Addison and Dr Jeremy Crang of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology have acted as historical consultants to a major BBC television series made by Wall to Wall. (Published 27 November, 2017)

'Blitz: the Bombs that Changed Britain' is a four-part series that covers the East End of London, Hull, Clydebank and Bristol. At the heart of each episode is the impact of a single bomb on a specific street or community, the story of the families affected by that bomb, and how the ripple effects of the Blitz helped to shape our social, political and geographical landscape. The first episode was broadcast on BBC 2 at 9.00pm on Thursday 23 November.

Dr Crang commented that ‘it has been a pleasure to work with Wall to Wall on this series. Above all, one cannot help but be profoundly moved by the stories of the families featured in the programmes and their extraordinary resilience in the face of the bombing.’

The first episode is available now on BBC iPlayer, and you can see the schedule for upcoming episodes on the series website, Blitz: The Bombs that Changed Britain.
