Masters funding is exceptionally competitive, we would advise that you apply early for funding as most deadlines are early in the year and often no later than May or June.

Postgraduate Loans (PGL)(England)
The UK government offers a postgraduate loan scheme for UK Nationals (and those with settled status in the UK) who have most recently been resident in England.
Postgraduate Loans (PGL) are a contribution towards your cost of study and it is at your discretion to use the loan towards fees or maintenance costs. They are non-means tested and will be paid directly to you.
Postgraduate Loans (Scotland and EU)
Loans are available for students undertaking full-time and part-time taught Masters and postgraduate Diploma programmes.
Other key bursaries and scholarships
Edinburgh Global Online Distance Learning Masters Scholarship
Scholarships are available for our distance learning MSc in History. Each scholarships will have a total value of £5000, which will be deducted from the tuition fee.
Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships
The University will offer a number of masters scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject to citizens of Canada, China, India and the United States of America.
School of History, Classics and Archaeology funding
The School invites applications for our Masters Scholarships and the Sheila Cannel Postgraduate Scholarship.
