Resources and facilities in the city

The city of Edinburgh is a fantastic place for students studying in the humanities. There are many facilities available, allowing you to attend workshops, events and activities throughout the year, alongside other study areas.

The National Library of Scotland

This library, located on George IV Bridge near the University, is a major research resource for all Humanities subjects. It is a copyright library (one of 6 in the British Isles) and receives a copy of every book published in the UK, as well as having extensive overseas imprints, important manuscript and archival holdings and a range of online resources. You are encouraged to register and obtain a reader's ticket for the National Library as soon as possible.

Edinburgh Central Library

The main City Public Library (lending, reference, 1st-floor reading room) is on the opposite side of the road to the National Library of Scotland.

The National Museum of Scotland

The National Museum has a specialist research library and is located on Chambers Street near the University.
