Biography
After retiring from a career in surgery I completed an MSc and PhD in the Scottish History Department, University of Edinburgh. I now live on Skye and continue research on local, highland and medical history with several publications on these topics.

Nineteenth century urban history with a strong medical bias; highland social and medical history with specific interests centred on Skye and Wester Ross.
Current research activities
Development of Fishing in Skye and wester Ross with emphasis on its effects on migration and emigration.
