Congratulations to Dr Mirko Canevaro who won an award as runner-up ‘Scotland International Young Thinker of the Year’ at the recent International Young Scotland Programme.

Delegates on the programme write and present a paper of their own choice on a subject of current interest or controversy. Dr Canevaro, Chancellor’s Fellow (Classics), was commended for delivering “a polished essay on the importance of the humanities”.

Following on from his success, Dr Canevaro has been invited to be a regular contributor of the Scottish Review, an online current affairs magazine.

Young Scotland Programme

Twenty-nine delegates from across the globe took part in the second International Young Scotland Programme in March. The programme, run by the Institute of Contemporary Scotland, aims to promote the intellectual development of people in the early stages of their careers.
