Spotlight: Doctoral Funding Success (2021)
Lily King and Florian Weiser have received AHRC funding from the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities for their PhD projects. Lily King will be working on ‘Sugar-Plantation Guides and the Transnational History of the Plantation Complex, 1750 – 1910’, supervised by Professor Diana Paton (History) and Dr Jelmer Vos (History, Glasgow). Florian Wieser’s project is entitled ‘Subaltern Agency and Imperial Rivalry in the Franco-Spanish Circum-Caribbean: Native American and Black Actors during the Long 17th Century’. He will be supervised by Dr Meha Priyadarshini and Professor Diana Paton (both History). Lily and Florian will join a cohort of postgraduate researchers working with us under the auspices of the Edinburgh Centre for Global History.
