I am originally from California, and I did my first degree at Bowdoin College, in Maine, before I completed my PhD in Latin American History at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2016. There, I worked with William Summerhill, Robin Derby, and Ellen DuBois.
I have taught Latin American history at UCLA and Occidental College (Los Angeles). Before coming to Edinburgh in 2017 as a Murie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow, I was a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am active in public history blogging and reproductive justice activism.
My research and writing has been supported by Fulbright, the National Science Foundation (NSF), the American Historical Association, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, UCLA, and the European Union.
