Biography
Historical Animal Studies; Gender History; Renaissance Studies
Sarah Cockram specialises in gender history and historical animal studies. Sarah is the author of Isabella d'Este and Francesco Gonzaga: Power Sharing at the Italian Renaissance Court (Ashgate) and has recently published on Isabella d'Este's sartorial politics. Sarah’s recent research on interspecies interactions includes questions of animal emotion; animals of war; affection for companion dogs and cats; and the care of exotic animals (such as elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, civets) at Renaissance courts.
