Beyond the programme

Successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling allows individuals to access a whole host of other educational and professional development opportunities within the School.

Students who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling can choose to undertake an additional year of study in order to exit with a Master of Counselling degree, or can transfer into the Professional Doctor of Psychotherapy and Counselling programme.

Students can also transfer into a research degree, such as the MSc by Research in Counselling Studies, or the PhD/MPhil if they would like to develop their research skills and contribute to knowledge and research in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.

After completing the Diploma, students can return to the University to attend CPD courses in order to support their ongoing professional development as counsellors or psychotherapists.
