Who is this programme for?
This programme is suitable for professionals working in the field of health and social care who want to advance their skills and qualifications in an evidence-based psychotherapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). There is a special, but not exclusive, focus on children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Graduates will gain a qualification in therapies recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Matrix (2015) – a Guide to Delivering Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies in Scotland.
The core CBT courses, and the optional ACT and IPT courses are evidence-based interventions for common mental health presentations, and as such are the focus of specific UK government funding to increase access in the NHS. Therefore, graduates will have a significant advantage in starting and progressing a career in mental health care and will be skilled in working with children, young people and adults to improve mental health and the quality of healthcare provision.
