Dr Sheila Rodgers guest lecture in Australia

Dr Sheila Rodgers is visiting the University of Wollongong, Australia to give a guest lecture on dementia and interactive music activities on November 8th 2017.

The event is to in increase participants’ knowledge and understanding about the effects of an interactive music programme on individuals living with dementia.

This follows the trial of interactive group music sessions and listening to recorded music in groups in a UK National Health Service ward of 14 patients living with moderate to severe dementia.

Beneficial changes were noted in participants’ behaviour over the project. The Nursing Team was also able to see patients in a different way and realise that a ‘person is still in there’.

The trial is registered with ISRCTN (ISRCTN11001662)
