Depression and Virginia Woolf

My doctoral research, From Instinct to Self:

by Nini Fang

A Psychoanalytic Exploration into a Fairbairnian Understanding of Depression through a Dialogue with My Imaginary Virginia Woolf, explores a psychoanalytic understanding of depression creatively and relationally through an imaginative dialogue with Virginia Woolf. Demonstrating the reciprocity between literature and psychoanalytic theory, it argues for the potential and strength of creative-relational methodology, as achieved by this kind of fictional encounters, as an emerging method of psychoanalytic inquiry.
