Atopic Residency

An interdisciplinary creative project inspired by a micro-residency in the laboratory of Professor Sara Brown, an eczema genetic research lab, within the School of Medicine, University of Dundee, Scotland, organised by ASCUS Art & Science.

by Beverley Hood

The project evolved through observing the day to day activities of the lab, from carefully nurturing skin cultures, to the precise, complex and delicate processes use to analyse these samples. The resulting artworks (3D prints, sound piece and 360 immersive photography) attempt to immerse the viewer in the lab, by embodying the poetic, human and ethical issues that it’s work raises. (External link)
