Aisha Holloway announced as new Programme Director for Nursing Now Challenge

Nursing Now Challenge, a programme of The Burdett Trust for Nursing, have announced the appointment of our very own Professor Aisha Holloway as the new Nursing Now Challenge (NNC) Programme Director from March 2023.

As Programme Director, Aisha will take over from predecessor Professor Lisa Bayliss-Pratt and provide leadership to NNC initiatives to further research, training and knowledge exchange activity across the international nursing and midwifery network. She will continue to nurture and build upon their existing partnerships, and work towards developing new ones through new collaborative initiatives in the industry.

Aisha has been a long-term supporter of the organisation with a successful history on the Board and has played a key part in offering her time and knowledge to progress work. She will continue as a Professor of Nursing Studies within the School, and as a Co-Director of Edinburgh Global Nursing Initiative, as she begins her new role in NNC.

I am very honoured and humbled to be given this opportunity. I have long since admired and been involved with the work of the Nursing Now Challenge. Our network of early career nurses, midwives and students alongside their employers and Universities, come from all corners of the globe. At a time of great challenge for our community globally, there is also a window of significant opportunity. The ambition looking ahead, is to grow our local reach for global impact.  Through partnership and collaboration, we will strengthen and develop the capability of our early career nurses, midwives and students, thus leveraging the significant contribution in progressing universal health coverage (UHC) and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Professor Aisha Holloway

We are delighted to appoint Aisha to this position. Her vast experience across countless areas within nursing and midwifery combined with her knowledge of Nursing Now Challenge’s aims is an ideal combination to identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and lead work. It’s a great position for her to build on our past success and deliver an exciting future based on her experience.
