Organisational Structure

The Radiation Protection Unit provides guidance and advice to staff and students on all aspects of work at the University relating to ionising and non-ionising (including lasers) radiation.

Radiation Protection Unit

The Radiation Protection Unit consists of the University Radiation Protection Adviser and the Assistant Radiation Protection Adviser. Radiation Protection are responsible for the production and administration of Parts 7:1 Ionising Radiations, 7:2 Non-Ionising Radiations and 7:3 Laser Equipment of the University Health and Safety Policy, which deal with the various areas of radiation safety.

The Unit is a part of the Health and Safety Department.

Health and Safety Department

The Health and Safety Department is part of the Corporate Services Group and provides expert guidance and advice on all aspects of occupational safety and health to the entire University community, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, the University Health and Safety Policy, and current best practice, across the wide range of activities undertaken by the University.

The Health and Safety Department consists of the Health and Safety Office and six supporting units:

  • Fire Safety Unit
  • Occupational Health Unit
  • Occupational Hygiene Unit
  • Radiation Protection Unit
  • Training and Audit Unit
