Fire Safety Unit

Fire safety awareness

Fire safety awareness course that all staff should undertake.

Fire safety awareness training is available on line on the LEARN platform. All members of staff are required to complete the staff training as part of their induction training and thereafter at least once every 3 years. It is the responsibility of the Head of School/Management Unit to ensure staff complete fire safety awareness training as per this arrangement, to ensure the University meets their statutory obligations in reference to staff training.

Where online training is not available, or is deemed to be inappropriate due to the nature of duties undertaken, fire awareness training can be delivered through arrangement with the Fire Safety Unit. Please note, in all circumstances fire awareness training requires to be undertaken during normal working hours.

Firefox Quantum issue

Please note that LEARN does not work correctly within Firefox Quantum and therefore some of our training videos will not run if using this browser. If you are using a managed desktop, you will have the correct version of Firefox installed.

IS have provided the following advice:

There are a couple of choices. You could play these videos in a different browser such as Safari or Chrome, or alternatively it is possible to have two versions of Firefox installed on your Mac - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1149213. You can then download the correct version of Firefox from here - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/.
