Fire Safety Unit


The Fire Safety Unit provide a number of services to employees and represent the University to external organisations.

Bespoke fire awareness training

The fire safety unit will conduct fire awareness training where necessary to meet the needs of individual units or departments where it is deemed appropriate to do so. Where this is required an application in writing requires to be made to the head of the Fire Safety Unit detailing what is required and the numbers that require to be trained.

All other courses listed on this page are offered as standard.

Fire Safety Online Training

New online versions of the Fire Stewards and Fire Coordinators Training is available via the LEARN platform.

Fire safety awareness

Fire safety awareness course that all staff should undertake.

Fire Safety Management

This course is specifically intended for fire coordinators and fire stewards, however, it may be of interest to colleagues who have a managerial role.

Waiting Lists

The Fire Safety Unit operates a waiting list for courses for those who cannot attend the scheduled or arranged courses. Personnel on the list are notified when suitable courses are sheduled.

By Arrangement

Fire Safety courses can be arranged for schools and departments on site providing there are sufficient numbers attending.
