Events use of University buildings

Guidance on fire safety when using University buildings for internal events or on a commercial basis.

Internal events

Where an event is planned within a University building it may result is some material changes that could impact on the Fire Risk Assessment for the premises. Where an event is planned notification is required to be given to the Fire Safety Unit at least 28days prior to the event to ensure a review can be undertaken. Further advice and guidance on the responsibilities for the management of the event will be available from the Fire Safety Unit.

Places of public entertainment

Commercial use of University buildings

When using any University building, all organisers of conferences, exhibitions, lectures and seminars must ensure that they are fully conversant with pertinent fire safety procedures.
