Assessing Impact

The impact pilot exercise held during 2010 involved 29 higher education institutions submitting evidence of impact to be assessed by pilot expert panels in five units of assessment:

  • Clinical Medicine
  • Physics
  • Earthy Systems and Environmental Sciences
  • Social Work and Social Policy
  • English Language and Literature

The membership of the pilot expert panels included a broadly even mix of practising researchers and research 'users' from a range of businesses, public sector bodies, charities and other third sector organisations.
