HESA Performance Indicators
A common set of Performance Indicators is published annually by the Higher Education Statistics Agency for all publicly funded higher education institutions in the UK.
These performance indicators are designed to provide reliable information on the nature and performance of the higher education sector in the UK through a consistent set of measures. This will contribute to a greater public accountability by the sector, as well as ensure that policy decisions can be made on the basis of consistent and reliable information.
The performance indicators are intended to encourage institutions to increase access, and maximise achievement for all who can benefit from higher education, by providing the information with which they can monitor their activities.
Using these indicators, it is the aim that higher education institutions and the Funding Councils can identify good practice and disseminate this throughout the sector.
