Pre-requisites

Visiting students should have completed at least three semesters in Mathematics courses, and have a suitable background in Music. We will only consider University/College level courses. **Spaces on Music courses are limited in 2022/23, and so enrolment cannot be guaranteed for any visiting student** This course cannot be taken alongside Linear Algebra & Several Variable Calculus (PHYS08042) or Dynamics and Vector Calculus (PHYS08043).

Course Summary

This course aims to describe the mathematical underpinnings of Fourier theory, and digital signal processing, especially with regard to music and audio applications. The emphasis is on algebraic work, and on practical computation for sound analysis and synthesis.
