This course may incur additional costs for materials and/or field trips. **Please note that Design courses have extremely limited spaces available, and are very popular, so students cannot be guaranteed a space in any Design course.** These enrolments are managed strictly by the Visiting Student Office, in line with the quotas allocated by the department, and all enquiries to enrol in these courses must be made through the CAHSS Visiting Student Office. Course Summary

Students undertaking this course will develop key creative skills in visual communication for fashion, through sessions exploring creative drawing from a life model, and through studio based drawing workshops. The ability to understand and visually interpret silhouette, volume, materials and texture through drawing is a key element in enabling students to communicate and present their work to the fashion industry and a wider audience.

Course Description

The course is designed to introduce creative methods of fashion sketch and fashion illustration. Students undertaking this course will develop key creative skills in Drawing for Fashion. The ability to understand and interpret silhouette, construction, volume and texture through drawing is a key element in enabling students to communicate and present their work to the fashion industry and to a wider audience. This project allows students to explore and develop their drawing skills through the following methods, drawing from a life model, drawing for fashion sketch, drawing for fashion illustration, exploration of materials and fashion accessories. Experimenting with various drawing media and drawing techniques students will explore body proportions, poses and the interaction between clothing and the body. Students will also undertake formative research into fashion illustration through historical and contemporary fashion analysis.
