U7+ Alliance
The U7+ Alliance is an international coalition of university presidents who meet to engage in discussions and agree concrete action to address pressing global challenges.
The University of Edinburgh’s joined the alliance in 2019 as a founding member.
The U7+ Alliance brings together 100+ presidents and leaders of universities from over 20 countries, including all G7 nations. The Alliance’s members are committed to academic freedom and scholarly values and convinced of the key role of universities as global actors.
Key challenges the Alliance aims to address include climate change, biodiversity and energy transition, global equality and access to education, combating polarization in society and sustainable development.
Alliance members meet annually at a Presidential Summit to establish a common agenda and identify key areas for coordinated action.
