The University of Edinburgh is no longer a member of the Erasmus student mobility scheme, following the UK government’s decision not to participate. The University now participates in the Turing Scheme, the UK Government’s national mobility scheme supporting students working or studying overseas.
Funding for 2023/24 and 2024/25 students
The University of Edinburgh will provide financial support to students required to undertake work and study abroad as a mandatory requirement of their undergraduate degree programme during the academic years 2023/24 and 2024/25.
This applies to students on undergraduate degree programmes with a built-in, credit-bearing international study/work placement for which there is no UK alternative (e.g. students on a single/joint honours UG Languages, International Business, Law with a Language, or Physics with a Year Abroad degree).
Due to the reduction in overall funding available through the Turing Scheme, we will unfortunately not be able to provide funding to undergraduate students on non-mandatory exchanges or placements in 2023/24 or 2024/25, nor is there any funding available for post-graduate activity abroad. We strongly encourage students who will not receive funding from the Turing Scheme to carefully consider how they will meet the costs involved.
