Dr Bomberg presents at US National Research Council workshop on shale gas governance

Dr Elizabeth Bomberg gave a presentation at the US National Research Council Workshop on the Governance Risks of Shale Gas Development.

Dr Elizabeth Bomberg, Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the School of Social and Political Science, was invited to contribute to the US federal workshop on the Governance Risks of Shale Gas Development in Washington DC.

The workshop, commissioned by the US National Resource Council, brought together policy analysts and practitioners to explore the governance of shale extraction, and offer insights that will inform policymakers in this burgeoning area.

Dr Bomberg’s presentation focused on the European Union’s more reluctant approach to shale and the principles underlying that approach: precaution, transparency, consultation, sustainability.
