Charles Lyell played a key role in the early development and popularisation of Earth Science. He was a renowned scientist, but also left a lasting legacy as a communicator and populariser of new ideas, so this is a fantastic opportunity to ensure that everyone has access to an important archive of 19th Century scientific discovery.
