You can help students, research, teaching and the community today by giving directly to the Edinburgh Fund.
For many young people across the UK, university feels completely out of reach. No-one in their family has ever been able to afford to go and worries of spending thousands of pounds each year without earning is daunting. The University of Edinburgh has a proud tradition of supporting students from low-income backgrounds. To ensure this support is continued, we must build a comprehensive scholarships programme to attract the brightest and best – regardless of their financial circumstances. The University of Edinburgh is the only university in the UK providing this level of scholarship support to UK students from the lowest household incomes. But we can only do this with your help.
Innovative teaching and learning
The experience of our students at the University of Edinburgh relies heavily on the quality of teaching and the flexibility of learning. When you come to Edinburgh, you expect your time here to be a stepping stone to your future career and success. That’s why we set up the Principal’s Teaching Award Scheme (PTAS).
It is only because of alumni donations that PTAS is able to continue supporting staff and students in their learning and teaching ventures. The awards aim to encourage and support activities that will make a significant contribution to the enhancement of learning and teaching at the University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. New practice in teaching can be explored through the PTAS and your gift today will help ensure Edinburgh continues to be at the forefront of providing innovative experiences for students.
Research and community impact
Through your support, the University is able to award grants of up to £5,000 to students and staff wanting to launch a project, conduct a piece of research or explore a new initiative in teaching.
From a student-led veterinary clinic for pets of the homeless and vulnerable, to providing access to clean water in the driest parts of the world using fog catchers, these student experience grants not only help local and international communities, but they can help improve and even save lives.
These grants are possible only through the generosity of our supporters. Please consider a gift today to help continue this valuable area of the Edinburgh Fund.
Our short-term international experiences give our students the resilience, cultural sensitivity, language skills and drive to take on the world. Whether for an internship, a conference or cultural experience, you can support students wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the wider world and help them become truly global citizens.
Research from the British Council and Association of Graduate Recruiters shows that employers prioritise the ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds in young graduates. With a gift today, you can help students gain these skills through an international experiences.
