Why did you decide to fundraise for your chosen cause?

We set-up the Lubin Borde Sarcoma Research Fund at the University of Edinburgh in 2018, in loving memory of our nephew and cousin, who died of osteosarcoma at just 14 years old. This cause is deeply personal to us and by raising funds, we hope to advance research into sarcoma and improve the outlook for future patients and their families.

How did you raise money?

Every year we organise a small-scale sporting event for our friends and family to take part in, the events are always family friendly to enable youngsters to take part too. Previously challenges include:

  • Walking the West Highland Way
  • Climbing a Munro
  • Swimming in Loch Tay
  • Cycling and Walking the Seven Hills of Edinburgh

We organise the events, choosing something physically challenging, whilst family friendly! Many of the participants help with the organisation, as well as fundraising for the Lubin Borde Fund. Our yearly Lubin Borde Challenges are demanding but fun, friendly and community strengthening.

Fundraising wisdom

Start small and build it up. Also, planning and running your event should be an enjoyable process!
