Optical Microscope Laboratory
The optical microscopy laboratory is located in the School of GeoSciences and is used by undergraduate, postgraduate, research and teaching staff within the School.
The laboratory contains a suite of modern microscopes suitable for
- petrological work
- digital photography
- point counting
- mineral separation
- cathodoluminescence
- Heating/cooling stages
- fluid inclusion studies.
This Zeiss microscope was a gift from the estate of Sir F. H. Stuart to the Department of Geology and Geophysics (2003).
