English language support
Language support for non-native speakers is offered from a range of University support departments, from EUSA and from student volunteers.
The International Students Centre
The Edinburgh University International Student Centre helps our international students to best experience Edinburgh, as well as supporting UK students’ connections with the world.
The ISC is the student-run arm of the Edinburgh Global, dealing with the social aspects of the international community in Edinburgh. Run completely by volunteers, you'll be able to meet and interact with people from all over the world.
Connect with local people
The University of Edinburgh runs a networking scheme called Go Connect which helps international students meet local people in Edinburgh. Highly rewarding and fun, find out more from their site.
The School offers confidential pastoral support to all its students. We understand that at times international students may initially find it difficult to adapt. Please contact us if you are experiencing personal problems which affect your studies.
Academic support is available through your Supervisory team. Your Advisor or the RTD Team can provide confidential pastoral support. Support and advice are also available through the University’s own services:
'Prepare for Success' is an interactive web learning tool for international students who are getting ready to come to the UK for study in further or higher education. It contains learning resources which are activity-based to help you find out about different aspects of academic life in the UK and the skills needed for effective study. As well as preparing you for what to expect during your studies, the activities provide scope for English language improvement.
